What is Dysport™?
Dysport™ is a simple, nonsurgical, physician-administered treatment that can temporarily smooth moderate to severe frown lines between the brows in people from 18 to 65 years of age.
How Dysport™ Works
Dysport™ is abobotulinumtoxinA, which reduces the activity of the muscles that cause those frown lines between the brows to form over time.
The Dysport™ Procedure
We'll seat you in a comfortable reclining chair, and provide you some ice to numb the area before and after the injection. Anesthesia is not required for this treatment.
The injection procedure itself takes just about 10 minutes, while the rest of the appointment is used to determine the most effective treatment. Our doctor will determine the injection sites by examining your ability to move certain muscles. She will then administer several tiny injections directly into the muscles that cause the frown lines. Usually several units are injected at once, though some areas may require an injection for a single unit.
Results are usually evident within a few days and last about three to six months.
Dysport™ Side Effects and Recovery
The most common side effects of Dysport™ include dry mouth; injection-site discomfort or pain; tiredness; headache; neck pain; muscle pain; eye problems such as double vision, blurred vision, decreased eyesight, problems with focusing the eyes, drooping eyelids, swelling of the eyelids. As with all skin injection procedures, there is a risk of infection.
You can resume normal activities immediately, but we may request you stay out of the sun. We also suggest you remain upright for four hours after the procedure and refrain from vigorous activity for 24 hours. Call us immediately if you have any pain or symptoms that are unusual or severe. Before you leave, we'll make sure you fully understand all the risks and common symptoms.
